The XXVIII session of the Assembly for the election of deputies to the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on behalf of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan took place today in the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in Nur-Sultan.

The first speaker of the meeting was the Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan – Head of the Secretariat of the APK of the Presidential Administration Zhanseit Kanseituly Tuimebayev.

- Dear members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan!

Welcome to the XXVIII session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan dedicated to the election of deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament elected by the Assembly! I would like to congratulate the participants on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of our independence. On January 5, President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev published an article entitled “Independence is the most precious thing”, that pays special attention to the issues of unity and harmony. We will start this year with an important political campaign – the election of deputies to the supreme legislative body of the country.

It's worth noting that the nine deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been elected by the Assembly since 2007.

- This step was aimed at strengthening the unity of our society, representing the interests of ethnic groups, activating their participation in the socio-political life of the country. This norm is combined with Kazakhstan's fulfillment of international obligations in the field of human dimension, civil and political rights in the framework of international covenants and conventions of the United Nations, the Organization for the Security and Cooperation in Europe and other international organizations, - said Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

An election commission has opened a polling station for the election of deputies to the Majilis at 07.00, on the first floor of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in Nur-Sultan.

It was attended by the delegation of members of the APK, representatives of national and regional ethno cultural associations, public figures, scientific and creative intellectuals, as well as the international observers accredited in Kazakhstan and the media.

- Dear participants of the session! Today we will determine the deputies of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan elected by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan! The nine deputies of the Assembly represent the interests of all ethnic groups in Kazakhstan, and the entire population. A parliamentary group of the APK acts as a parliamentary mechanism for inter-party cooperation in strengthening peace and unity in the country. The group of deputies of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, participating in the three convocations of the Majilis, is distinguished by its activity and contribution to the legislature, - said the Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan - Head of the Secretariat of the APK Zhanseit Kanseituly.

The chairwoman of the election commission for Nur-Sultan city Svetlana Telemisova:

- A polling station has been opened in accordance with the election law. At the polling station, the members of the election commission shall issue ballot papers. They have instructions on their desks with the table number and the names of the regions. The chairman and secretary of the election commission have no right to issue the ballots.

During the work of the Majilis of the Parliament of the VI convocation, the 28 members of the parliamentary group initiated 12 bills and participated in the consideration of about 200 bills. In addition, more than two thousand amendments were made to the draft laws and 226 parliamentary inquiries were published as well.
